Residence in Malha Jerusalem
Situated in a mid city "village", this traditional Arabic house was build a century ago with one meter thick walls, arches, cross vaults and two dramatic domes. The main theme in this project was bound to be old & new.
For the architecture as well as the interior design, the main goal was to reveal the glory of its past. The goal was achieved by removing all later additions to the structure and using modern, light material for the interior as wood, metal and glass.
As it was built on a slope we were able to excavate and create a lower level for the more private functions and "release" the domes from dividing walls while adding 30% to the net area of the project.
Program: Private Residence | Location: Malha Jerusalem | Area: 150 sqm | Status: Completed 2006
